For a number of years now, as I have prepared to start the day, I have knelt by my bed, lifted my hands heavenward and prayed--
"You are God and I am not
Lord Jesus Christ
I surrender to you today--
Ashley, Cam and Sonya, Brian and myself
We belong to You
Awaken us to You
I seek to entrust this day
into Your sovereign will and care..
to live open handed
and trust in the unfolding of Your will
In Jesus' name
Amen
It's not lost on me the depth of these words
or the trust needed to allow God to be God
in whatever way He may choose in the next 24 hours.
Yet I continue to lay my heart out through these words
because in all the world
there is no other place I find security
than in God alone.
